1Abstract

We make every song over many rounds with an AI music app. In each round we write what we want to hear, the app plays back what it made, and we listen. Then we change the words or the settings and try again. When one version is right, we master it for streaming. This song took 12 rounds and 20 renders over 2 days. A render is one full version of the song the app plays back, and one round can return more than one. The charts below call each round a submission, one for every time we sent the app a prompt. We wrote the style prompt, which describes the sound, 6 ways and the lyrics 4 ways before we kept one render.

The song was made in Suno v5. The delivered master measures −11.92 LUFS integrated. Its true peak is −3.77 dBTP, and every streaming decode measured stays under the −0.50 dBTP ceiling. Loudness range is 4.8 LU.

A mid-tempo emotional EDM ballad fused with glitch synthwave: opening with spacious pads, sidechained analog synths, and a pulsing four-on-the-floor kick. Verses are airy, centered on close-mic'd spoken vocals, subtle bit-crushed glitches, and pedal steel swells. Choruses erupt with lush synth layers and rhythmic tape wobble, glitch stutters accenting transitions. Energy surges by layering textures, not tempo shifts, crafting a cinematic, immersive soundscape.
Lyrics prompt as submitted40 lines
[Verse 1]
You drew a line and called it yourself.
You picked a point and said, here I am.
But the line is a thought.
The point is a guess.
You are not where you think you are.
You were never where you think you were.
Memory repeats a story.
You believe it. That is all.

[Chorus]
You do not live in time and space.
You do not live in time and space.
Time and space live in you.
You are not the one who sees.
You are the seeing itself.

[Verse 2]
Feelings appear one after another.
You string them together and call it your life.
But the string is yours, not the feelings.
The sequence is your invention.
You are not what happened to you.
You are what it happened in.

[Chorus]
You do not live in time and space.
Time and space live in you.
You are not the one who sees.
You are the seeing itself.

[Verse 3]

[Verse 3]
You think you have edges.
You think you have a shape.
You don't.
The body moves through the world.
You don't move.
You were never in it.

[Chorus]
You do not live in time and space.
Time and space live in you.
You are not the one who sees.
You are the seeing itself.

Glitch synthwave roots ballad. Warm analog synths with tape wobble and bit-crushed artifacts underneath acoustic guitar and pedal steel. Slow tempo, spacious. Vocals intimate and unhurried, spoken-word weight with melody, a hymn coming through a broken transmission. Kick drum minimal, mostly felt. Glitch elements should feel like reality catching, not mechanical. Chorus opens wider, synths swell but keep the warmth. Pedal steel carries the ache. Lo-fi vocal processing, close-mic'd.
[Verse 1]
You drew a line around yourself
and called it skin,
picked a point inside the dark
and said, I'm here, I begin.
But the point was just a guess,
the line was just a thought,
a story memory keeps telling
whether you believe it or not.

[Chorus]
You don't live in time and space,
they live in you.
Not the seer, just the seeing.
The page was here before the ink.

[Verse 2]
Your feelings come in single file,
one behind the next,
and you string them on a thread
and call it what happened.
But the thread is just a thread.
The sequence tells itself.
You're not the words, you're what the words
were written on.

[Chorus]
You don't live in time and space,
they live in you.
Not the seer, just the seeing.
The page was here before the ink.

[Verse 3]
You imagine certain volume,
you imagine certain place,
as if the ocean could be troubled
by the shape of one small wave.
The wave was never separate.
The ocean doesn't split.
The body walks through time and space.
You don't exist in it.

[Chorus]
You don't live in time and space,
they live in you.
Not the seer, just the seeing.
The page was here before the ink.

[Verse 1]
You drew a line and called it yourself.
You picked a point and said, here I am.
But the line is a thought.
The point is a guess.
You are not where you think you are.
You were never where you think you were.
Memory repeats a story.
You believe it. That is all.

[Chorus]
You do not live in time and space.

5Mastering

MasteringThin Veil Records' proprietary mastering process, run on our own machine by an AI agent. The process is model-agnostic; any capable language model can run it. Every value measured by script. Approved by ear before release.
Mastered on2026-10-02
BriefThe brief, as the engineer's report and scripts state it: master from the raw 2-track into the .TJ. lane band (-9.5 +/- 0.5 LUFS-I, true peak at or under -1.0 dBTP), carrying the lane line "for TJ, we want the bass felt and the vocals clear" and the album intent "Fusion not selection. Big-room and heart-pounding bass is the non-negotiable.", with every setting derived from the track's own measurements. The engineer worked from the raw mix; the stems were measured against it and not used in the master. The dispatch text itself is not on disk. The delivered file is that remaster after album balancing, a head and tail match to the earlier master and one uniform release trim of -1.75 dB. Originally released with an earlier master. The earlier version of this master, built in spring 2026, carried processing aimed at AI-detection models: per-stem phase reconstruction on every stem, an AAC round trip on each stem, and a reference match to a commercial track. Our build record does not fully reconstruct the shipped chain. That work ended on 2026-08-14. This remaster works from the raw Suno mix and carries none of it. Replaced by Audio Swap on 2026-10-02. When checked on 2026-10-30, Apple's and Spotify's previews matched this master.
Figure 3. Codec safety. True peak in dBTP of the delivered file, against the label's file ceiling of −1.00 dBTP, and of each streaming codec's round trip, against the decode ceiling of −0.50 dBTP (the colored lines). 4 of 4 measurements clear their ceiling.

Figure 4. Signal chain, in processing order, as applied to the final render.
  1. Mastering chain, 2026-09-16, run by script on the raw 2-track (48 kHz, 16-bit). Re-running the script on 2026-10-30 reproduced the mastered file sample for sample.
  2. High-pass, 2nd-order Butterworth at 22 Hz, with a clean gain of +4.08 dB.
  3. Peaking filters: +1.5 dB at 305 Hz (Q 1.2).
  4. Low-band saturation below 110 Hz: 4x oversampled asymmetric tanh, drive 2.2, bias 0.08, only the added difference kept.
  5. Tape-style emphasis saturation: 5 kHz emphasis of +/-4 dB, drive 0.5, asymmetry 0.1, 4x oversampled.
  6. Soft clipper at -1.9 dBFS, 0.5 dB knee, 4x oversampled, residual low-passed at 9 kHz; active for 2.7 s.
  7. True-peak limiter: ceiling -2.0 dBTP, 1.5 ms look-ahead, release 20 dB/s. Gain reduction peaks at 1.13 dB; 0.056 s above 1 dB, none above 3 dB.
  8. DC block: zero-phase 2nd-order high-pass at 5 Hz with reflected padding. True-peak safety clip at -1.0 dBTP (4x oversampled, binary-searched): not engaged.
  9. Head: digital zero to 55 ms, then a raised-cosine fade to 600 ms. Tail: 500 ms raised-cosine fade to exact zero from 259.34 s. TPDF dither to 24-bit (seed 20260916), zero where the fade gain is zero.
  10. The file landed at -9.95 LUFS-I.
  11. Album balancing, 2026-10-01 (script): high shelf at 150 Hz, -0.3 dB (S 1.0), zero-phase, no gain change, TPDF dither to 24-bit. LUFS-I -9.95 to -10.17, true peak -1.98 to -2.02 dBTP.
  12. Head and tail matched to the earlier master, 2026-10-01 (script): the file was aligned to the earlier master by a median lag of 45.7 ms and set to its sample count, then the earlier master's music-band envelope (100 Hz to 1.5 kHz, 50 ms windows every 5 ms), relative to its body, was imposed on the first and last 20 s (full authority to 20 s, raised-cosine ramp over the next 2 s). Gains were limited to -60 dB and +24 dB, boosts were capped so no local peak rose above 0.3 dB under the source's true peak, and digital silence was kept in the first and last 3 s where the earlier master's music band is below -100 dBFS. Quantized to 24-bit by rounding, first and last sample zero.
  13. Release trim, 2026-10-02 (script): one clean linear gain of -1.75 dB on every track of the album (measured -1.750 dB), TPDF dither to 24-bit, first and last sample zero. LUFS-I -10.17 to -11.92, true peak -2.02 to -3.77 dBTP. Every streaming decode of the finished file is at or under -0.5 dBTP.
  14. Delivery, 2026-10-02 (script): written as a 24-bit, 48 kHz WAV with industry INFO tags and a bext chunk and no encoder signature. The audio is bit-exact with the trimmed file, and the delivered file is the one measured here. Re-running the balancing, match, refine and trim scripts on 2026-10-30 reproduced the trimmed files sample for sample.
Table 1. Mastering decisions: each move, what it rests on, and its cost.
MoveBecauseTradeoff
Peaking filter at 305 Hz, +1.5 dB (Q 1.2), the only EQ move.A hole, not a hump: 285, 320 and 570 Hz read -3.4, -3.6 and -3.1 dB under the trend and exceed +2 dB in 0 to 2 percent of sections. The low-mid fill survived the whole chain (+0.59 dB after the bell, +0.62 dB after the limiter).
Low-band saturation below 110 Hz at drive 2.2, the highest of its batch. The weakest sub of its batch (Welch -23.92 dBFS) and an even 45 to 90 Hz shelf, which the engineer judged to give the shaper clean fundamentals (an inference from measurement; it does not listen). The brief called heavy bass non-negotiable.Residual -19.2 dB; sub fell 0.77 dB.
Only time-invariant stages. The engineer's dispatch described a two-mode constraint for this track: a glitch mode that breaks under reverb-like processing and a smooth sustained mode that breaks under chopped or modulated processing (the report repeats it; we have not verified it). Every stage is static (filters, memoryless waveshapers, a static clipper) except the look-ahead limiter, held to 1.13 dB of reduction.
Stereo width left alone, and no side lift. The source measures 0.957 correlation with a mono fold-down loss of 0.11 dB, outside the 0.20 to 0.75 correlation gate. A side lift of even +9 dB does not reach the gate and costs about 1 dB of sub and 0.6 dB of air.The master misses the gate, as its source does; the report calls that a property of the source.
Album balancing: high shelf at 150 Hz, -0.3 dB.A listening note: "there are some songs that sound louder than others though". Measured: +0.26 dB over the body median on the four-proxy headphone mean. A high shelf rather than a gain, so the track's light sub (-3.0 dB against the earlier master) is not lowered further at the join from Imagination.
Head and tail matched to the earlier master. The script's stated job is to impose the earlier master's head and tail music envelope, relative to its body, on each remaster.
Release trim of -1.75 dB, the same on all 11 tracks.Gate A, the label's check that every streaming decode sits at or under -0.5 dBTP. The balanced and matched file overshot it: 1 of its 3 decodes (Opus 128, Vorbis 96, AAC 256) were above the line, the worst at -0.27 dBTP (our re-measurement of 2026-10-30). The script records the instruction of 2026-10-02: "if it needs to be done, then do it".1.75 dB of loudness. The delivered file measures -11.92 LUFS-I.
Left untouched
No width processing; correlation 0.957 to 0.954 (source to chain output), 0.955 in the delivered file. The side-lift lever was left at 0.0 dB.
No high shelf: its Welch upper-mid and presence bands (-27.27 and -30.23 dBFS) sit about 4 dB above the other two tracks of its batch.
No broadband compressor: it took the loudness range from 4.66 to 3.27 LU and needed +8.3 dB of make-up.
No reverb, impulse response, delay, modulation, granular processing or decorrelation.
No added noise bed, spectral reference matching or codec round trip in the audio path (dither and the head and tail envelope match excepted).
