Ehyeh & The Witness

One drop, deep bass, a pocket steady enough to stand on. Roots reggae, ska, soul. Ehyeh is the old Hebrew name for “I Am,” the answer given at the burning bush. Presence saying its own name, not a far-off god.

The Witness is the awareness sitting behind your thoughts, the part of you watching them go by. Every tradition points at it. It isn’t something you turn into. It’s already here. Reggae knew this before anyone called it philosophy. “I and I” was the whole theology, the divine moving through us instead of over us, and Marley and Tosh sang it plain.

Here the sound and the meaning are the same thing. This is music for the Rastaman, the Sufi, and the mystic hiding inside a corporate job, all of them hearing the one thing. You don’t have to believe any of it. Put it on, and you go still with it.
